Kitchen Project

Description

This project was a complete transformation, turning a cramped kitchen and large bathroom into a spacious, modern open-plan kitchen with exceptional height and depth. To achieve this, the original kitchen, bathroom, internal walls, brick-built oven housing, and ceiling joists were removed. New RSJ steel beams and oak struts were fitted to support a beautiful vaulted ceiling, which was further enhanced by two Velux conservation skylights, flooding the space with natural light.

A damp floor was replaced with a plastic membrane and new screed, providing a solid base for stylish LVT flooring, seamlessly laid throughout the kitchen, conservatory, utility room, and new toilet area. Walls were expertly dry-lined using a metal track system for a smooth, level finish, and fire-resistant plasterboard was installed for added safety.

The vaulted ceiling was insulated to meet thermal regulations, and the project included new electrics, plumbing, plastering, carpentry, painting, and decorating. A bespoke Howdens kitchen was installed, complete with a Quooker tap system, alongside a new toilet suite and pocket door system for space-saving elegance.

This transformation, executed to structural calculations and building control standards, highlights the potential of open-plan living with thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship.
